Invisalign aligners

The Invisalign Aligner System is a custom-made clear aligner kit for controlled bite correction from the American manufacturer Align Technology, Inc.

Align Technology first introduced clear aligners as an alternative to fixed braces in 1999. By 2020, the clinical practice of using Invisalign aligners has more than 9 million patients worldwide.

How do Invisalign aligners correct bite?

A set of individual alignes Invisalign is produced according to virtual dental impressions of the patient in the USA. Each pair of alignes fits perfectly over your teeth and gently moves them in the right direction strictly according to the treatment plan.

For the correct functioning of the aligners, attachments are installed on the teeth - small overlays made of composite material that matches the color of the teeth. With their help, the pressure of the aligner works with the correct force and in the right direction./p>

Each aligner should be worn for 1-2 weeks, at least 22 hours a day. The number of aligners, the duration of their wearing, the position and the number of attachments are calculated in the ClinCheck program while treatment planning.

The full course of treatment with Invisalign aligners is usually approximately 10-20 months.

Features of Invisalign aligners:

  • ClinCheck software for visualizing the course of treatment and the final result in 3D. Thanks to virtual planning, bite correction with Invisalign aligners is a completely predictable and controlled process from diagnosis to completion. The software accurately calculates the movement of each tooth and the alignment sequence to achieve optimal results even in difficult clinical situations.
  • Smart Force — technology is a design of aligners and attachments that provides the most precise and controlled application of force to the tooth.
  • Invisalign aligners are made from the patented SmartTrack — polymer biosilicone - an elastic and hypoallergenic medical material. It does not injure soft tissues and tooth enamel.
  • Orthodontists who work with the Invisalign aligner system are trained and certified by the Align Technology Center.

Stages of treatment with Invisalign aligners:

  1. Consultation with an orthodontist certified to work with the Invisalign system.
  2. Diagnostics: taking a digital impression using a 3D scanner. The orthodontists of the Konfidencia work with the 3Shape intraoral scanner. At this stage, the patient can already see virtual models of his dentition.
  3. Virtual treatment planning in the ClinCheck program: visualization of the course of treatment and the result, determination of the number of aligners and the duration of their wearing.
  4. Production of an individual set of aligners at the factory in the United States and delivery to the clinic.
  5. Issuance of the first set of aligners, instructions, installation of attachments.
  6. Self-replacement of aligners from the set.
  7. Visits to the orthodontist to control the treatment, install attachments, issue the next set of aligners.
  8. Assessment of the final result and installation of retainers.

Who are Invisalign aligners suitable for?

The Invisalign system is suitable for solving most aesthetic and functional problems of position and occlusion of teeth:

  • Tremas and diastemas
  • Crowding, tilting, rotation of teeth
  • Dystopic teeth
  • Bite anomalies: distal, cross, mesial, open, deep occlusion
  • Orthodontic preparation for implantation and prosthetics
  • Orthodontic preparation for orthognathic surgery

Limitations of using Invisalign aligners:

ЭAligners are not suitable for correcting skeletal malocclusion - when the bite is disturbed not because of the position of the teeth, but because of the size and position of the jaw bones. Orthognathic surgery is prescribed (recommended) for patients with skeletal abnormalities. Aligners in this case can be used at the stage of preparation - for setting the teeth in the correct position.

Benefits(advantages) of bite correction with Invisalign aligners:

  • Almost invisible on the teeth.
  • You don't have to give up your favorite and familiar food and drinks - during lunch, the aligners can be simply removed.
  • Predictable result even at the planning stage.
  • Controlled and atraumatic movement of teeth.
  • Comfort for soft tissues ,safety for enamel thanks to highly elastic material.
  • Rare visits to the orthodontist (in average, once every 8 weeks)
  • More comfortable and easier home hygiene compared to braces

How to care for Invisalign aligners and teeth during orthodontic treatment?

Aligner care

Aligners are recommended to be worn at least 22 hours a day, taken off during meals and put away in a special box for this time. The aligners are very easy to care for: it is enough to clean them with a brush and soap under running water. Once a week, you can use “Korega ”denture cleaning tablets.

Aligners must not be immersed in hot water or held over steam for cleaning - the silicone will deform. Do not drink coloring drinks or smoke with aligners- they absorb pigment and are not cleaned.

Dental care

The technique of teeth brushing with attachments is no different from hygiene without them. Brushing your teeth with a brush and toothpaste is advisable after every meal, also you should use dental floss, brushes, and an irrigator before going to bed.

At night we recommend placing remineralizing gels (ROCS Medical Minerals, GC Tooth Mousse) in the cells of the aligner. They strengthen the enamel, give shine and have a whitening effect
